Encounter Between Two Worlds Monument

It was opened on March 1, 1993 to commemorate the V Centenary of the arrival of the Caravel Pinta Baiona. It Picallo Magin sculptor.

It lies at the foot of the wall of Monte Boi, near the place where he was buried the first Native American killed in the Old Continent. Inside the ball are deposited portions of land from different Latin American countries.

Statue of Martin Alonso Pinzon

This statue was donated in 1977 by the City of Palos de la Frontera and is a replica of the one in the hall.

This sculptor A. Leon Ortega played the captain of the Pinta, Martín Alonso Pinzón and is situated on the promenade named after him.

Pozo de la Aguada (XV)

Tradition has it that this was the well from which drinking water is supplied from the caravel before returning to Palos de la Frontera in the second week of March 1493.

It is situated on the Paseo de la Ribeira, near where the caravel Pinta arrived.

Arribada tile (XX century)

It consists of 180 tiles of 30 cm and represents the routes taken by Martin Alonso Pinzon and Christopher Columbus' caravels Pinta and Niña in his return from discovery, coming to Bayonne and Lisbon respectively.

Monolith to Arribada (XX century)

A large rock 5 meters high and over 20 tons shown in front of the caravel relief sculpted by Angel Fernandez baionés Vernet. It was inaugurated on March 22, 1965 in Plaza Pedro de Castro.

Monument to Alfonso IX

This monument is dedicated to King Alfonso IX, founder, protector and benefactor of Bayonne. On the pedestal are the words the monarch ruled at the time of releasing the villa of his servile condition and vassalage to which was subject: "I will put on you the name of Bayonne"

This magnificent monument is beautifully executed by sculptor Juan Oliveira Vieitez as well known for her sculptures of horses in Vigo. It was erected in 2001 to mark the eighth centenary of the foundation of Bayonne as Villa Real.

Virgin Rock

At Mount Samson, more than 100 meters above sea level, stands a statue of 15 meters high stone carved with the face and hands in white marble.

The interior of the monument is hollow and you can climb to the ship that the Virgin carries in his right hand to see magnificent views of the Ria de Bayonne and Memorial Vigo.El Virgin blessings on September 14, 1930 and was conducted by architect Antonio Palacios. The hands and face, white marble, was sculptor Ángel García Díez.
