Vigo: The port of Vigo

The Ria de Vigo, with an area of ??14,000 hectares, is an excellent natural harbor sheltered by the Cies Islands and Morrazo peninsula.

Thanks to the excellent conditions of the estuary, the port of Vigo is one of the most valued of the continent. This past year the fishing port of Vigo has again become the first in Spain, and one of the first in the world.

Virtually every continent linking the port of Vigo with large numbers of scheduled routes from northern Europe to South Africa, and from South America to the Far East.

Besides being one of the best fishing port, also highlights as harbor freight, supply, tourism, leisure and passenger transport. As the leading passenger traffic local, Vigo and Cangas-Moaña, in summer, the Cies Islands. During the past year was more than a million travelers.

Another passenger traffic to note is that of cruise ships, with a total of 52,646 people in 2001, assumed the scale of 57 ships in the Cruise Pier, located in the city center.

The city of Vigo has a modern marina next to the Royal Yacht Club in the heart of the village, with facilities and fully sheltered berths for boats up to 25 meters in length.
